Realme 12 Pro Plus Launches in Indonesia, Introducing Flagship-Level Periscope Telephoto Lens

Realme 12 Pro Plus made its debut in Indonesia today, Thursday (29/2/2024). Claimed to be the first smartphone in the mid-range segment to feature a flagship-grade periscope telephoto lens, it boasts standout camera features such as Portrait 3x and Super Zoom 120x. Beyond its camera capabilities, the Realme 12 Pro Plus offers upgrades from its predecessor in terms of chipset and design.

Equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor built on a 4nm process, the device promises enhanced performance. Furthermore, its design incorporates premium vegan leather, offering a luxurious feel while also ensuring resistance to dust and dirt.

Ahead of its release, CNBC Indonesia had the opportunity to test the Realme 12 Pro Plus for various daily activities including social media usage, movie streaming, gaming, music playback, and more.

We assessed the camera quality, battery endurance, and user comfort to support everyday activities. The unit we tested was the Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G variant with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage in the Navigator Beige color variant. Here are our findings in detail!

Realme 12 Pro Plus presents a more luxurious design compared to its predecessors. For instance, the rear camera module adopts a prominent circular design reminiscent of luxury watches.

Wrapped in premium vegan leather, the back panel offers a comfortable grip despite the device's large size. Additionally, this design choice provides a sense of security as the phone doesn't feel slippery even without the included silicone case.

Moving to the front, the Realme 12 Pro Plus features a curved 6.7-inch OLED display with thin bezels. This screen delivers an optimal visual experience with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 FHD+, support for 1.07 billion colors, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, and an instant touch sampling rate of up to 2000Hz. The curved display is protected by a secondary 0.55mm tempered glass layer.

In our experience, the curved display of the Realme 12 Pro Plus is comfortable for extended use, whether it's for watching movies, series, or playing games, as it offers a wider and more immersive viewing experience.

The overall build quality and impression of this device are solid. The only complaint we have is regarding the position of the fingerprint reader. While it is fast and responsive, it is placed too close to the bottom edge of the screen, making it somewhat awkward to reach with the thumb during normal phone handling.
